Augusta pigment factory starts building new regional warehouse hub

Jun 24, 2025Jun 24, 2025

An Augusta factory that helps give distinctive red colors to high-tech coatings and plastics is expanding near Augusta Regional Airport.

OXERRA has broken ground on a 120,000-square-foot warehouse at 1895 Doug Barnard Pkwy. as a regional distribution center for a growing customer base, the company announced June 16.

OXERRA makes iron-oxide pigments as additives to products such as plastics, coatings and cosmetics. The pigments' inability to fade make them popular in weatherproof coatings.

"Our Augusta team plays a critical role in serving the needs of our customers," said Kevin Miles, CEO of OXERRA Americas. "This strategically located distribution center reflects our continued investment in the U.S. market and our commitment to providing the highest level of service. This move bolsters our company’s distinguished reputation as the U.S. supplier with the largest distribution network and inventory and allows us to manage it with even greater control and faster speed."

The warehouse is expected to be completed in January 2026.

OXERRA's $172 million plant in Augusta was built in 2016 by Huntsman Pigments and Additives, employing about 100 people. Huntsman spun off a separate company, Venator Materials, in 2017, which changed the Augusta factory's name.

Venator sold its pigments division to Cathay Industries in November 2022. In April 2023, Cathay Industries rebranded the division as OXERRA.
